Financial Adviser - Northern Ireland

Location: Northern Ireland / Belfast
Package: Highly competitive base salary + bonus | Overall six-figure package
Client Bank: Significant established book provided from day one

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Adviser to join a rapidly expanding national wealth and financial planning business as it continues to invest significantly in its Northern Ireland operation.

Backed by one of the UK's largest and most established investment and wealth management groups, the business has ambitious plans for continued growth across Northern Ireland. It has already acquired a number of established local financial planning businesses and is now investing heavily in the people and infrastructure required to develop a substantial long-term presence in the region.

As part of this growth, the business is looking to appoint two high-calibre Financial Advisers.

What makes this opportunity particularly attractive is that successful advisers will inherit significant established books of business. There is no expectation or pressure for individuals to bring an existing client bank with them.

This is therefore an excellent opportunity for an experienced adviser who enjoys managing valuable client relationships and wants to focus on advising, retaining and developing an existing portfolio while still having the commercial freedom to generate additional opportunities.

The Financial Adviser Role

The successful Financial Adviser will take responsibility for a substantial portfolio of existing clients, ensuring they continue to receive a high-quality, relationship-led financial planning service.

You will build strong relationships with clients, understand their long-term objectives and provide holistic advice across areas including:

  • Pensions and retirement planning
  • Investments and wealth management
  • Tax-efficient financial planning
  • Estate and inheritance planning
  • Protection
  • Later-life planning
  • Business-owner financial planning
  • Mortgages, where appropriate

A major part of the role will be successfully transitioning an established client portfolio and developing those relationships over the long term.

You will conduct regular reviews, identify changing client needs and ensure recommendations remain suitable while proactively identifying opportunities to provide additional advice.

Client Relationship & Business Development

Although advisers will inherit an established book, the business is particularly interested in individuals with a commercial and sales-focused mindset.

You will not be expected to cold-build a client bank from scratch. However, the strongest candidates will naturally look for opportunities to grow relationships through:

  • Existing client referrals
  • Professional introducers
  • Accountants and solicitors
  • Business-owner networks
  • Existing personal and professional relationships
  • Cross-selling appropriate financial planning solutions
  • Developing relationships with the next generation of existing client families

This would particularly suit an adviser who enjoys the commercial side of financial planning but wants the security of having an established client base from the outset.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have:

  • Significant experience working as a regulated Financial Adviser / Financial Planner
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent
  • A proven track record of managing an established client book or significant portfolio
  • Strong knowledge of pensions, investments and retirement planning
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Confidence dealing with affluent and high-net-worth private clients
  • Strong understanding of FCA requirements and suitability standards
  • A relationship-led approach to financial advice
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities within an existing client portfolio
