- Do you want to use data insight to drive better business decisions?
- Are you comfortable presenting ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders?
- Are you looking for a hands-on role with a focus on problem solving and presentation?
The UK Portfolio Management Unit supports AIB UK’s strategy by delivering timely portfolio insight, well-controlled MI and forward-looking analysis across the credit book. This is a hands-on role primarily focused on analysing credit performance and asset quality, identifying key drivers and emerging risks, and translating data into clear, decision-useful insight for senior stakeholders. The role includes first‑line Model Owner responsibilities for key UK credit models, ensuring they are well‑governed, well‑understood and evidenced, and that they appropriately capture key risk drivers to support reliable portfolio assessment, reporting and decision‑making.
Keyaccountabilities;
- Lead analysis of portfolio credit performance and asset quality, identifying trends, drivers, concentrations and emerging risks, and translating this into clear insight and recommended actions.
- Produce senior forum-ready MI and commentary, connecting portfolio outcomes to drivers and implications, and setting out actions where required (key risk indicators, risk appetite, monitoring intensity, escalation).
- Strengthen forward-looking portfolio assessment by integrating internal signals (e.g., rating migration, arrears/default patterns, watchlist movements, ECL trends) with external data and macro/sector developments.
- Enhance Early Warning Indicators / KRIs so they are analytically grounded, operationally usable and clearly linked to escalation, management action and reporting.
- Translate analytical requirements into robust reporting solutions using the data warehouse and dashboards, improving automation, control discipline, data traceability and “right-first-time” MI.
- Act as first-line Model Owner for nominated UK credit models (e.g., IRB, standardised grading, IFRS 9, and stress testing models), ensuring outputs used in portfolio assessment are governed, documented, monitored and appropriately controlled.
- Interpret and explain model outputs and movements (e.g., ECL drivers, parameter/overlay impacts, limitations/overrides, model change impacts) and ensure they are reflected appropriately in portfolio narratives and management decisions.
- Maintain strong control evidence and timely issue closure: monitoring plans, documentation, model change governance, and prompt resolution of development/validation/audit/regulatory findings.
- Partner effectively across UK and ROI stakeholders (Credit, Risk, Finance, Data, Technology) to land portfolio insights, reporting improvements and model-related changes to deadline and quality expectations.
- Contribute to senior papers and regulatory-facing materials where relevant (e.g., portfolio deep dives, impairment analysis/overlays, ICAAP credit inputs), and support delivery of programmes and closure of UK PMU-owned actions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Typically 10+ years’ experience in financial services, with strong understanding of lending/credit risk concepts and portfolio performance analysis.
- Proven ability to craft clear, decision-ready narratives from data, and contribute to senior committee, board and regulatory papers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders and presenting succinctly to senior audiences.
- Experience working with model outputs (IRB/grading/IFRS
9) and related governance expectations; practical…
