Assistant Accountant

Avondale Foods is a leading food processing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses such as Marks & Spencer, Morrisons and Waitrose in the UK. The Assistant Accountant will support the finance team with the day-to-day financial administration and accounting activities of the organisation. The role will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reconciliations and supporting month-end and year-end accounting processes in relation to Purchase Ledger, Budgeting, Management Accounts and Statutory Financial Statements in accordance with the requirements of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities Assist in maintaining and developing accurate systems information, records and reporting, with adequate financial controls. Support with implementation of financial controls and reporting, including but not limited to, monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow), balance sheet reconciliations, process and systems improvements, payroll, VAT submissions etc. Support with financial reports to include proactive and robust financial analysis to support decision making and business performance.

Assist in the preparation of key performance indicators and commentaries on variances. Support with the annual budget and forecast processes. Present financial reports to the Head of Finance & IT Assist with preparing draft statutory accounts in line with UK Government requirements. Support with organisational compliance with all statutory regulations. Provide cover for the transactional team when required Carry out any other administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the department Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration do the right thing approach in all interactions.

Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times.

Essential Criteria At least 3 years experience working within a Finance function. Good knowledge and understanding of financial management and best practice. ATI qualified or equivalent IT literate proficient in MS package. Desirable Criteria Experience working within the Food Manufacturing industry, preferably via the preparation of accounts
