Financial Controller

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Financial Controller to join a highly prestigious international business in a newly created senior finance position. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role will oversee financial control, audit, year-end, reporting, budgeting and forecasting, while leading and developing a small finance team. Working closely with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders, the Financial Controller will provide commercial insight, challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

There is genuine scope to shape the role, influence the wider business and drive meaningful change. The role will also deputise for the CFO when required, providing senior finance leadership across the organisation. The business is looking for a fully qualified, established Financial Controller with strong technical expertise and proven management experience. They will be an excellent stakeholder manager, commercially minded and a genuine self-starter, with the confidence to challenge the status quo and bring new ideas.

The Role:

Oversee financial control, audit, year-end and reporting, while providing strong technical accounting oversight across the function. Lead, coach and develop a small finance team, creating a high-performing and accountable culture. Responsibility for budgeting and forecasting, working closely with finance and non-finance stakeholders to provide insight, challenge assumptions and support effective decision-making. Identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working, challenging the status quo and bringing new ideas to the wider finance function.

Deputise for the CFO when required, providing senior finance leadership and acting as a key point of contact across the wider business.

The Person :
The business is looking for a seasoned Financial Controller, rather than someone looking to make their first move into an FC position. The successful candidate will be: A fully qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience. An established Financial Controller with strong technical and financial control expertise. An experienced people manager, with a track record of coaching and developing teams. Strong across audit, year-end, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

An excellent stakeholder manager, confident engaging with senior finance and non-finance colleagues. A natural self-starter who takes ownership and operates with a high degree of autonomy. Commercially minded, with the confidence to challenge constructively. Ideas-driven and improvement-focused, with the ability to challenge the status quo and identify better ways of working. Comfortable operating at senior level and deputising for the CFO when required.
