Financial Controller

Equifind is partnering with a scaling technology business looking for a Financial Controller. You'll lead the UK finance function and own accounting operations for the UK entities. That covers financial reporting, statutory and regulatory compliance, cash management, company secretarial duties and a strong control environment. You'll report to the Group Corporate Controller. You'll also work closely with UK commercial leadership and FP&A and support the group-wide close.

• Leadership:
  Lead, coach and develop the UK finance team, including hiring, onboarding and succession planning. Act as the main escalation point for UK finance issues.
• Reporting:
  Own the monthly management accounts and the annual statutory accounts. Provide variance analysis and commentary on revenue and cost trends.
• Statutory and compliance:
  Oversee year-end accounts, tax returns and VAT/HMRC filings. Manage the external audit. Own Companies House filings and the statutory registers.
• Business partnering:
  Act as finance partner to UK commercial leadership. Give financial input on client contracts, pricing, renewals and VAT implications.
• Budgeting and cash:
  Support the UK budget and forecasts. Oversee treasury and cash management, and approve vendor payments.
• Operational finance and controls:
  Review balance sheet and bank reconciliations, oversee month-end processing, sign off payroll, manage aged debt and payables, and oversee payment processing, reconciliations and chargebacks.
• Process improvement:
  Drive standardisation and look for AI and automation opportunities across the close, reconciliations and reporting. Support the group consolidation and the quarterly and year-end close.

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with previous experience managing a team.
• Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP, UK VAT and HMRC requirements
• Experience with Net Suite or another ERP; advanced Excel
• Proven experience leading and developing a finance team
• Strong background in internal controls and process improvement
• Organised and detail-focused, able to work to tight month-end deadlines
• Confident presenting financial information clearly; discreet with confidential matters
• Takes ownership and works well both on your own and in a team
