Apple Mews Care Home is looking to recruit Support Workers to join their team. This is a full-time or part‑time role – shifts: 8 am – 8 pm, 8 pm – 8 am, 8 am – 2 pm. Minimum 24 hours per week (2 shifts).
Pay: £12.90 per hour + a £1,000 welcome bonus.
Apple Mews is located in the city of Armagh, Northern Ireland. Our home offers residential and nursing support for 30 adults with a range of needs, including learning disability, physical health needs and autism. Our team is dedicated to creating a safe, homely environment for every person we care for.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion when caring for the people we support.
What you’ll be doingYou will be part of a compassionate team committed to our residents’ wellbeing, taking a personalised approach and using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.
Your positive attitude, passion for high‑quality care and support, and a friendly, patient approach to work will be your key strengths.
As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity, and treatment of residents. You will support day‑to‑day activities, encourage independent living, and help people reach their potential through practical and emotional support.
- Supporting with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene
- Performing light housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed linens
- Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and movement of individuals
- Assisting with attendance at medical appointments
- Observing, monitoring, and recording physical and emotional well‑being, and reporting any changes to senior staff promptly
- Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities

Qualifications and Skills- Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
- Empathy, understanding and patience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding and following policies and procedures
- Ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
- Competent verbal and written English
- A healthcare qualification is desirable but not essential
- Right to work in the UK
