Overall purpose of the job
Our service users are seeking the services of experienced healthcare assistants and support workers who will be caring and supporting elderly people in their care and nursing homes in Northern Ireland.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 months experience (preferred but not essential) working with the elderly in a care or nursing home setting or studying for or attained a care related qualification. In addition, s/he will:
- Have sound knowledge of current issues in care for elderly people.
- Have completed the basic mandatory training in adult care.
- Have a valid permit to work in the UK.
- Be flexible and able to work on own initiative.
- Be able to complete an Enhanced Access NI check.

Key duties and responsibilitiesThe healthcare assistant may be required to work in any department of the home as stated below:
Personal Care- Assist with all daily living activities for example, washing dressing, toileting/incontinence and assisting with mealtimes.
- Closely monitor residents who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems.
- Assist in the promotion of continence and personal care.
- Assist in the delivery of care for residents who have a progressive illness.
- Observe care planning needs for residents and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities the care centre.
- Answer call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly and pass on messages promptly.
- Under the supervision and guidance of senior care staff, report on the wellbeing of residents.
- Carry out regular checks on residents at intervals determined by senior staff members.
- Assist residents with personal hygiene assist with toileting bed making assist with mobility.
- All relevant kitchen related duties including basic meal preparation.
- Record food/ equipment temperatures.
- Washing drying and ironing duties.
It is acceptable to perform any other duties as may be reasonably required.
Qualifications- Be registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)
- Other vocational Qualification or training attended in healthcare.
- Mandatory Training courses

- Good Communication interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the use of computers in documentation
