The post holder will work within the Neurology Movement Disorder Service to develop a specialist Movement Disorder Nursing Service within the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust Area. The post holder will provide a resource of specialist nursing knowledge and skills in the care and management of those affected by movement disorder conditions, their families and professionals working with them. The post holder will carry a caseload, undertake comprehensive assessments with differential diagnoses and may prescribe care and treatment for patients with movement disorders or appropriately refers to members of the multidisciplinary team within the hospital and community setting.
The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary teams and other agencies and will be involved in developing and implementing effective approaches to meet the needs of this client group and their families. The post-holder will be expected to use clinical judgment and decision making in relation to the management of patients with movement disorders. The post holder will be required to undertake nurse-led clinics in relation to the movement disorder service.
The post holder will initiate and participate in audit, research and development of the movement disorder service working across the appropriate teams. The post holder will be an advocate for patients/carers with movement disorders acting as a specialist resource for healthcare professionals involved with these patients.
- To provide clinical leadership in the realm on movement disorder conditions.
- Be a Registered Nurse on Part 1 (Adult) of the NMC live register.
Location - Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.
