Job Overview
The MSK Physiotherapy service in Ealing offers advanced assessment and treatment for complex cases referred by the GP. The Band 6 post holder will manage a defined caseload, use evidence‑based patient‑centred principles to assess, plan and deliver individual treatment plans. The post holder will undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner with supervision from a Band 7 physiotherapist or Advanced practitioner Physiotherapist within the team.
This involves participating in service training, liaising with GP, supporting group classes and promoting a high‑quality, efficient and effective physiotherapy service to clients in accordance with operational policies.
Ealing Community Partners: NHS, Ealing Council, voluntary and specialist providers working together to deliver health and social care for the people of Ealing.
We are seeking a highly motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to work within the Ealing Community Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service. This is a part‑time fixed‑term post of 26.25 hours per week for a 6‑month duration. The post holder will provide a supportive working and learning environment, work with Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners and Consultant Physiotherapist, support supervision and appraisal of junior staff and be involved in innovative service projects, including post‑COVID rehabilitation.
Detailedjob description and main responsibilities
- To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic or rheumatology conditions, using appropriate assessment/diagnostic techniques, skills and tools
- To adopt a problem‑solving approach, engaging patients and carers in their treatment plan, negotiating on agreed outcomes, gaining consent and educating users on self‑care.
- To evaluate and review treatment outcomes to facilitate discharge of patients.
- To deliver care in a range of settings including primary sites, clinics, GP surgeries and acute hospital as required.
- To work with members of the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless delivery of care, provide advice and education within this forum, acting as an expert in your own professional field.
- To continually review patients’ progress and refer as necessary to other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate care is provided.
- To plan and organise a caseload and implement effective administration in accordance with department guidelines on caseload management.
- To participate in the services Clinical Governance initiatives and the development and implementation of standards, guidelines and protocols.
- Physiotherapy Degree or Diploma
- Current UK HCPC Registered
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or any special interest group
- Awareness of audit and evaluation
- Broad undergraduate experience in core clinical areas: MSK / Respiratory / Community Therapy / Neuro / Care of Elderly.
- Awareness of current NHS policies and issues which impact on the profession and the workplace
- Awareness of current issues or developments pertinent to own profession including legal frameworks.
- Understanding of clinical governance and how it applies to own work area
- Awareness of own knowledge and learning style
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Relevant clinical knowledge base underpinned by broader physio therapeutic skills
- A good working knowledge of the NHS system of care. (Trained or worked in the NHS)
- Participation in project activity
- Active contribution to training others
- Experience of treating patients who do not speak English
- Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload in a busy environment with supervision.
- Good clinical reasoning / problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to process, manage and communicate sensitive information in relation to patient care.
- Ability to recognise and work with diversity.
- Excellent written and verbal skills including the ability to write straightforward letters and reports to a professional standard.
