Optilase Eye Clinic is currently recruiting an experienced Optical Assistant or Technician to join our established and highly respected Belfast City Centre clinic.

The RoleThis position is ideally suited to an experienced Optical Assistant or Technician looking to develop their skills within a refractive surgery setting.
Following structured training, close supervision and formal competency assessment, the successful candidate will work as a Surgery Associate and Laser Technician, playing a key role in both the clinical and patient journey aspects of surgery days.
This is a hands‑on role that combines technical accuracy with patient interaction, and offers exposure to advanced diagnostic and laser technology in a well‑organised surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties- Performing pre‑operative diagnostic testing and scans
- Preparing and maintaining patient records, files and treatment plans
- Conducting surgical confirmation calls and patient correspondence
- Managing surgery diaries and clinical schedules
- Preparing, calibrating and safely operating laser platforms, including data loading and stock monitoring
- Participating in end‑of‑day and monthly clinical processes, including post‑operative data collection, filing and deep cleans
- Supporting Front of House activity and managing patient flow within the clinic
- Updating electronic patient records and managing bookings and reschedules
- Managing email correspondence and responding to patient queries
- Handling inbound and outbound patient calls
- Supporting wider clinic operations as required

- Previous optical experience is essential
- Experience as an Optical Assistant, Technician or within a clinical ophthalmic setting is highly desirable
- Salary is negotiable for candidates with previous refractive or laser technician experience
- Comfortable working with technical data, diagnostics and numerical information
- Highly detail‑orientated with a strong commitment to accuracy and patient safety
- Professional, discreet and respectful of patient confidentiality
- Calm, organised and adaptable in a busy clinical environment
- Reliable, punctual and flexible
