Weekly pay and a competitive mileage allowance for community travel. Requirements To be considered for this role, you must meet one of the following qualification pathways:
Pathway A:
Registered Social Worker, Nurse, or Occupational Therapist on a relevant professional register, plus at least 6 months of direct experience working with adults or young people facing mental health or addiction challenges. Pathway B: NVQ Level 3 in Care, a degree in a health-related subject (or equivalent), plus at least 1 year of relevant paid experience in a mental health or addiction setting.
Pathway C:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Band 3 Support Worker (or equivalent within the voluntary/private sector) working directly with individuals facing mental health or addiction problems. Additional
Essential Criteria : NISCC Registration Valid UK Driving Licence and access to a car or a reliable form of transport to complete community-based duties. Excellent communication skills and a strictly non-judgemental approach to community care. Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and compile professional reports. Desirable Criteria:
Direct experience working with complex drug/substance users. Proven experience in inter-agency networking or multi-sectoral collaborative work. High proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office packages. Responsibilities Working closely with the Team Leader and Service Manager, your day-to-day duties will include:
Actively identifying, engaging, and establishing credibility with polydrug, heroin, and cocaine users within targeted regional areas. Providing immediate response and support to service users seeking urgent help, managing referrals until stability is reached. Operating an outreach equipment/needle exchange service in strict adherence to agency protocols. Monitoring the health, social, housing, and employment needs of service users, establishing direct links with hostels, housing providers, and primary health teams.
Delivering education surrounding harm reduction, safe sex practices, and the prevention of BBVs (HIV, Hepatitis B and
C). Coordinating care pathways with general practitioners, the criminal justice system (assisting individuals upon release from custody), and external counselling or advocacy networks. Involving families in the rehabilitation process where appropriate and driving wider education strategies to reduce the stigma of addiction within local communities. Maintaining meticulous service records, preparing updates, participating in regular supervision, and ensuring strict compliance with all health, safety, and infection control standards.
