Casual Domestic Assistant (with laundry duties) - Palmerston Residential Care Home

Care Home Management Key objectives:
To ensure that every resident enjoys a clean and well maintained environment that is presented to the highest standard. To ensure, working as part of a team within the home, that all residents needs in relation to domestic and housekeeping services are met. To fulfil requirements relating to cleanliness and infection control. To be aware of the residents laundry requirements.

To ensure that every resident enjoys clean and well-maintained laundry that is presented to the required standard. Main Tasks:
Cleaning duties To work within the cleaning schedules as determined by the Care Home Management. Ensure appropriate products necessary for the control of infection are in place at all times in all appropriate locations. To be responsible for the daily use of housekeeping equipment. To ensure the correct use of all equipment and products in line with COSHH requirements. To ensure that equipment and store areas are kept in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition.

Laundry duties To ensure clothes and linen are appropriately ironed and/or folded. To allocate clothes to their appropriate baskets. To distribute clothes to the residents rooms as directed. To monitoring the usage of all laundry products. To be responsible for the daily use of equipment and reporting any defects to the Manager/Maintenance person. To ensure the correct use of skip bags with particular regard to soiled and infectious linen.

To ensure the laundry skip bags are washed weekly to prevent any smells. To keep the laundry room and store area in a clean and hygienic condition. General duties To observe high standards of personal hygiene and infection prevention and control. Understand and observe all relevant regulations and Abbeyfield policies and procedures. To follow appropriate procedures in the event of accidents/emergencies.

General Requirements:
To attend staff meetings when appropriate. To attend appropriate training and development sessions. To maintain confidentiality at all times. To carry out any reasonable duties as requested by the Manager. To be aware of and comply with safe working practices. To uphold and promote equal opportunities in service delivery. Domestic - Candidate profile Essential Requirements:
Ability to communicate and interact well. Ability to complete basis records. Ability to work well as part of a team. Demonstrate an empathy and understanding of the needs of older people. Ability to carry out all aspects of the role to a high standard at all times.

Desirable Requirements :
Experience in a similar role. Working in services for older people. COSHH / Cleaning Certification.
