Job summary
Candidates will be given speciality interview questions to answer on the day. Provides specialist technical services to patients that may include research and audit samples. Contributes to providing a professional clinical laboratory service, working effectively as a team member as part of the overall department. Able to perform all core scientific and interpretive work, which corresponds to the training and qualifications of a Registered Biomedical Scientist.

To assist in training and supervising staff and deputising for the Advanced Biomedical Scientist when necessary.

Microbiology at SWLP is looking for Specialist Biomedical Scientist (with a minimum of two years Band 5 experience) to join our dynamic, friendly team . You will be deployed in Microbiology at the St George's site. The department offers the latest equipment in the Microbiology field with three Kiestra lines, MALDI-ToF technology, Uri-system, Liaison XLs, Enteric Bio, BD FX, MGIT, Phoenix and Microscan.

There is an automated Serology track system and a specialised Molecular service including high throughput analysers.

The department also offers an extensive screening program for latent TB for the London region.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a minimum of two years experience working at Band 5 level, with good bacteriology knowledge and experience in addition to excellent problem solving skills.

You will be expected to participate in a 24/7 shift system which includes weekend, night, late and bank holiday working as part of hours.
