We have an exciting opportunity to join our team of Healthcare Scientists working in the Clinical Measurement and Engineering Unit of Northern Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering. This post is based in the Northern Gait Analysis Service.

This role involves working in a clinical gait laboratory environment performing assessments including 3D motion capture for both adult and children with a wide range of presentations which affect their gait, including those with complex disabilities.

We expect that the successful candidate will be able to develop and lead research and development and quality improvement projects in these services and the wider unit.

The post-holder will perform gait analysis assessments, including 3D motion capture on patients in a clinical gait lab environment and report these investigations clinically to aid treatment planning. The post-holder will collaborate within a multidiscipline team of clinical and technical staff and be expected to present clinical findings at MDT to the wider team including Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Additionally, we expect the post-holder to contribute to and lead quality assurance and R&D projects in a range of technical and scientific applications, including auditing and equipment management.

This post is suitable for candidates with experience in clinical gait analysis as well as those at the beginning of their career as a Clinical Scientist. There is opportunity within the role to take on the responsibilities required of a technical lead depending on the experience level of the candidate.

Service-specific training will be provided as required, but an understanding of the fundamental technological principles of gait analysis and clinical experience performing patient investigations is essential.

• Contributes to the delivery of the service in their specialist area.
• Supports the development, implementation and audit of clinical and organisational strategies within the Service via the quality management system
• Opportunity to take on responsibilities required for technical lead
• Performs a range of advanced healthcare science activities
• Provide highly specialist advice and training to staff within own area and other professionals.
• Actively involved in research and development projects.
• Supervises and trains less experienced staff and trainees.

• First or second class honours degree in a relevant science or engineering subject
• Appropriate post-graduate degree at master's level, or equivalent level of specialist knowledge
• Registered Clinical Scientist, or working towards registration
• Higher degree in a relevant subject
