We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic person to become part of our Hotel Events Team at the exclusive Grand Central Hotel. Under the inspiring leadership of our General Manager, Jake McHugh, you will have the opportunity to work with our friendly team, develop your skills and enjoy the variety offered by a role in hospitality.
The successful candidate can expect to work mainly office hours Monday‑Friday (35 hours excluding breaks). The rate of pay for this full‑time position is £33,000 per annum.

AboutThe Role
- Lead the Events team in the absence of the Events Manager, ensuring efficient operations and the delivery of Hastings service standards.
- Communicate full details of business to relevant managers and keep F&B teams updated on any last‑minute changes.
- Liaise with customers via face‑to‑face, email, telephone and website enquiries.
- Contribute to achieving departmental sales targets through cold and warm calling, client site inspections, upselling and increasing revenue streams.
- Promote a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.
- Create reports for Business Development meetings and maintain knowledge of current trends in the conference and banqueting sectors.
- Ensure quality standards and procedures are fully understood, implemented and regularly reviewed.
- Provide appropriate training, coaching and development for Events employees.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments, suppliers and agencies.
- Ensure a safe environment in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation.
- Continuously develop industry knowledge and contribute to future plans and activities.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, Customs and Excise Regulations and all other relevant legislation.
- Perform any other duties as required by management.
We would love you to have similar previous experience ideally gained within the hospitality/tourism sector.
Required Criteria- Right to Work in the United Kingdom
- Good command of the English language
- Previous sales/events experience
- Excellent communication, numeracy and IT skills
- Excellent customer care experience
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be a team player
- Previous sales/management experience in hospitality
