Summary of Role:The HR Assistant provides practical, professional support across the Human Resources function, with a particular focus on employee relations and the effective delivery of people processes. Working closely with the HR Advisor and wider HR team, the role will support formal and informal HR casework, attend meetings and hearings, produce accurate minutes and associated documentation, and help ensure matters are progressed consistently, fairly and in line with company procedures.
Alongside this, the HR Assistant will play a key role in the effective delivery of the employee lifecycle, including coordinating the end-to-end onboarding of new starters and staff transfers. The post holder will work closely with HR colleagues, hiring managers, employees and external providers to ensure onboarding and associated compliance requirements are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
The role will also support the maintenance of accurate employee records and HR systems, reporting and general HR processes, ensuring employee information is accurate, confidential, accessible and audit ready, and that HR activities comply with company, client and regulatory requirements.
Employee Relations- Support the HR Manager, HR Advisor and wider HR team with employee relations casework, including investigations, disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence and other formal people processes.
- Attend formal and informal HR meetings, taking clear, accurate and impartial minutes and recording agreed actions.
- Prepare meeting packs, invitations, outcome correspondence, case documentation and supporting records, ensuring documents are accurate, timely and appropriately stored.
- Maintain ER/IR case trackers and records, monitoring key dates, actions and documentation to support the effective progression of cases.
- Handle employee relations information with a high level of discretion, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Coordinate the end-to-end onboarding process for new employees and staff transfers.
- Manage pre-employment checks and onboarding requirements, ensuring all documentation is completed prior to start dates.
- Administer the BPSS vetting process, including collecting, verifying, submitting, and tracking relevant documentation.
- Liaise with candidates, employees, hiring managers, HR colleagues, and external agencies to ensure onboarding activities are completed within agreed timescales.
