• In-depth knowledge and experience in multiple aspects of Software Engineering, with a particular focus on enterprise scale, cloud native solutions.
• Knowledge and exposure to modern software and cloud architectures, with experience in designing and leading the build of enterprise architectures and solutions.
• Extensive experience in cloud computing.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a technical leadership role, working at a senior level in a complex, multi-platform distributed environment.
• Experience in architecting complex, scalable solutions and designs, using multiple technologies and processing environments.
• Good knowledge of the Well‑Architected Framework, with experience in promoting it across multiple teams.
• Experience in working in partnership with business stakeholders, defining technology strategies and building solutions to meet their business needs utilising a product mindset.
• Extensive leadership, coaching and mentoring experience, including implementing engineering excellence best‑practices across multiple teams.
• Demonstrable experience designing and building AI‑based solutions and/or AI platforms at scale.
• Hands‑on experience with AI/ML tools, frameworks, and platforms (e.g., Tensor Flow, PyTorch, ML Flow, Data Bricks Azure/AWS/GCP AI services). Experienced with MLOps, data engineering or deployment of ML/AI models in a commercial environment.
• Track record of delivering production‑grade AI applications or integrating AI capabilities into existing platforms.
• Demonstrable understanding of data governance, ethical AI, model explainability, and privacy concerns (e.g., GDPR) in designing AI solutions.
• Experience in the establishment of or monitoring, retraining, and lifecycle management for deployed AI/ML systems, ensuring continued accuracy, fairness, and compliance.
• Familiarity with experiment tracking tools and automated ML workflows (e.g., MLflow).

• Knowledge of and exposure to coaching frameworks.
• Experience leading teams on AI‑driven projects, such as recommendation systems, automation, or intelligent data processing.
• Academic or industry recognised qualifications in ML or AI related subjects.

You will be working across the following areas of responsibility.

• Form deep partnerships with Liberty Mutual and Liberty IT stakeholders to fully understand the business area you are partnering with to establish, lead and own the technology strategy and roadmap to enable the business to achieve their objectives. Research trends and practices outside of Liberty and the Insurance sector, and apply these where beneficial to the business and Liberty IT.
• Influence the selection and implementation of infrastructure and software product standards to significantly impact current strategic roadmaps and technical practices.
• Consult and collaborate with technology leaders, business partners and peer groups regarding long and short‑range product features.
• Make, guide and justify decisions characterised by high levels of risk, impact and complexity. You will build consensus between various groups or highly independent and diverse stakeholders.
• Partner with Product Owners and Engineering teams to align technical design and strategy with the product roadmap.
