OverviewPwC Channel Islands provides assurance, tax and advisory services to support clients across various sectors, focusing on financial services.
As part of the Risk Assurance Services team, the Data Assurance specialist will work within engagement teams to support external financial statement audit engagements and contribute to strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities- Lead the Data Assurance team supporting external FS audit teams.
- Complete planning procedures and client walkthroughs relating to the IT environment.
- Design and develop data analytical procedures for audit testing.
- Document the use of data analytical procedures to required audit standards.
- Use digital assets and tooling to perform testing.
- Assess IT General Controls and application controls.
- Manage project activities to meet time and budget deadlines.
- Promote technology adoption and AI use within the team.
- Train and upskill staff members on tools and methodologies.
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop industry and process expertise.
- Strong academic background:
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Accounting, IT, Business Studies, etc. - Formal accounting qualification or a part qualification with a focus on Data; additional data science or engineering qualification desirable.
- Technology risk supporting qualification (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, CRISC, ISO
22301, CBCI, ISO
27001 LA).
- Experience as a data assurance specialist in internal or external audit.
- Excellent project management skills and strong organizational ability.
- Experience developing junior staff and strong team‑working skills.
- Strong listening, questioning, and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Proficient in building relationships.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial information systems and data structures.
- Knowledge of data science or engineering tools such as Alteryx, SQL, Python, PowerBI, Power Platform.
- Knowledge of the Financial Services sector and Channel Islands market.
- Support to external FS audit teams.
- Project management certification (PRINCE2, Agile).
- Cyber Security or Privacy engagement experience and relevant qualification (CISM, CISSP, GIAC, etc.).
- Experience with AI tooling (Claude, ChatGPT).
- Experience in technology risk engagements.
Limited travel may be required depending on projects.
