The Opportunity

We are seeking a Data Engineering & Business Intelligence professional to become part of an expanding data function and help strengthen how data is collected, managed and used across the organisation.

This role would suit a mid-level data professional who is looking to build on their existing experience while taking ownership of a variety of data engineering, BI and analytics projects.

You will collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver dependable data solutions, improve the availability and quality of information, and support data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include supporting the development and ongoing improvement of the organisation's data environment, including:

  • Designing, developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Bringing together information from databases, APIs, cloud services and other data sources
  • Creating and maintaining effective data models for BI and analytical workloads
  • Developing solutions using modern cloud and data technologies
  • Contributing to scalable and sustainable data architecture
  • Identifying opportunities to improve data quality, consistency and availability
  • Managing scheduled data workflows, processes and jobs
  • Supporting reporting, dashboarding and wider analytics requirements
  • Monitoring pipelines and resolving data or performance-related issues
  • Working with stakeholders to gather requirements and turn business needs into technical solutions
  • Helping establish consistent data practices, standards and processes
  • Collaborating with colleagues and sharing technical knowledge across the wider team

About You

We are looking for someone who has practical commercial experience working with data and can confidently contribute to the delivery of data projects.

You should have experience in a number of the following areas:

  • Strong SQL and relational database knowledge
  • Python and/or Py Spark
  • Building and supporting data pipelines
  • ETL/ELT processes
  • Data modelling and data warehouse concepts
  • Cloud data platforms and services
  • Business Intelligence and data visualisation
  • Working with APIs and data integrations
  • Handling and analysing large or complex datasets
  • Data quality, governance and security

You should be able to understand a business requirement, assess the available data and work towards a suitable technical solution.

Useful Additional Experience

The following would be beneficial, although they are not all essential:

  • Databricks
  • Delta Lake
  • Py Spark
  • AWS or other cloud environments
  • AWS Glue or comparable data integration tools
  • Dimensional modelling and data warehouse design
  • Power BI or other visualisation platforms
  • API development or system integration
  • Machine learning and advanced analytics
  • Agile/Scrum delivery methods
  • Experience with in retail, logistics, supply chain or another data-heavy environment
