Vanrath are recruiting for a Monitor Officer on behalf of a large public sector company in Larne on a temporary basis.

Overview

Inspection and monitoring of all council properties to ensure compliance with statutory legislation relating to building maintenance.

Testing and recording of building services in accordance with written policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation.

What you'll do Service Delivery
  • Carry out weekly and monthly tests in all council premises of emergency lighting systems, fire alarm systems, intruder alarm systems, fire-fighting equipment, domestic hot water systems, legionella checks and emergency door operation and advise on appropriate action required.
  • Monitor and record all test and checks and maintain up to date building logbooks and certificates ensuring information is maintained within the call logger system.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks as necessary when noted during routine inspections including replacement of emergency and ordinary light fittings, fire extinguishers and break glass call points.
  • Monitor and record meter readings for all council utilities including order, collect and deliver requisite materials required to complete tasks.
  • Checking and resetting of heating/ventilation control systems, fire alarms, intruder alarms and access systems.
  • Ensure minimum/optimum heating, lighting and ventilation levels are maintained within all council properties.
  • Survey and assess council properties and compile comprehensive logbooks in accordance with departmental policies & procedures.
  • Responsible for organising access to all properties for external contractors to carry out service visits and supervise contractors whilst on site.
  • Train staff and building users regarding access controls, heating/ventilation controls, alarms, fire panels and fire drills.
  • Liaise with Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service personnel on annual inspection of properties.
  • Carry out programmed maintenance assessments and condition surveys on council properties as required.
  • Carry out risk assessments for each job allocated and implement findings to ensure all hazards are controlled.
  • Where appropriate act as a key holder for Council maintenance yard and any other Council premises.

About you

Minimum of 5 GCSEs to include Maths and English Language (Grade C or above) or equivalent qualifications to demonstrate literacy and numeracy.

Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 2 years' experience in building maintenance environment which should include:
