Working Supervisor

Working Facilities Management Supervisor Location – West Lothian, EH54 8AF
Hours – Monday – Friday, 40 Hours Shift Worker (including night shifts)

We’re currently looking to recruit a Working Facilities Management Supervisor
to join our School Facilities Management Team. This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will work alongside the FM team while providing day-to-day leadership and support. You will help ensure that the school environment remains safe, clean, secure, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors.

The successful candidate will lead by example, maintaining high standards of cleaning, janitorial, and facilities management services while supporting the wider FM team in delivering an excellent service across the school estate.

• Supervise and support Facilities Management Assistants, Cleaners, and Janitorial staff on a daily basis.
• Work alongside the team, carrying out cleaning and facilities management duties where required.
• Assist with the planning and allocation of daily workloads to ensure service standards are consistently achieved.
• Carry out quality assurance inspections and address any areas requiring improvement.
• Ensure all cleaning schedules, compliance checks, and statutory records are completed accurately.
• Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene throughout the school.
• Support the School FM Manager in delivering an efficient and effective FM service.
• Assist with the induction, training, coaching, and development of team members.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure cleaning equipment and machinery are maintained in a safe working condition.
• Report and follow up on building defects and maintenance issues.
• Liaise professionally with school leadership, teaching staff, contractors, and external partners.
• Assist with opening and closing the school when required and help ensure the site remains safe and secure.
• Support emergency procedures and provide operational cover during staff absence where necessary.

• Valid Driving Licence
• Experience working within facilities management, cleaning, or janitorial services, ideally in a school or public sector environment.
• Previous supervisory or team-leading experience.
• Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and support colleagues while maintaining high service standards.
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation, COSHH, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
• Flexibility, reliability, and ability to respond to the changing needs of a busy school environment.
• Experience using cleaning machinery and equipment safely.
