Permanent Hourly Rate: £14.25 per hour // £28,685 per annum // based on 183 working days per year Overtime:

Role Overview Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Cargo Screener / X-Ray Operator to join our operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the security screening of air cargo using X-ray screening equipment, ensuring freight is screened safely, accurately and in accordance with applicable aviation security procedures and company requirements. Previous cargo screening experience is essential.

Applicants must currently hold a valid COS Certificate or have held a COS within the previous 12 months.

Key Responsibilities Operate X-ray screening equipment to carry out security screening of air cargo Accurately interpret X-ray images and identify prohibited articles, suspicious items or other security concerns Follow the appropriate procedures when cargo cannot be cleared through the initial screening process Ensure all cargo screening is completed in accordance with aviation security requirements, approved procedures and company policies Maintain accurate screening records and complete all required security documentation Carry out pre-use and operational checks of X-ray screening equipment Report equipment faults, security concerns, irregularities or non-compliance promptly Maintain a high level of concentration and attention to detail throughout screening activities Work closely with warehouse colleagues and other operational teams to ensure freight is processed safely and efficiently Maintain a secure, clean and organised screening area Support other operational and warehouse-related duties where required Essential Skills and Experience Previous experience working as a Cargo Screener / X-Ray Operator is essential Must currently hold a valid COS Certificate, or have held a COS within the previous 12 months Previous experience operating X-ray screening equipment within an air cargo environment Good knowledge and understanding of cargo screening procedures and aviation security requirements Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain concentration for extended periods Ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential security concerns Strong communication skills Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment Ability to follow strict security procedures and instructions consistently Desirable Skills and Experience Previous experience working within an airfreight, aviation or regulated warehouse environment Experience handling and processing a variety of air cargo Additional relevant AVSEC training or qualifications Personal Attributes Security-conscious with a responsible and professional approach Highly observant with excellent attention to detail Reliable and punctual Calm and focused when working under pressure Flexible and adaptable Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Friendly and approachable Professional appearance and conduct
