Heritage is for everybody, and we are here for heritage. Heritage lives in places and people, memories and stories, artefacts and traditions. It can connect us all to the past, and to each other. It can make us happier, strengthen every community, and help shape society for the better. Everybody should be able to enjoy the benefits it brings.
That’s why, as a charity, we care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. And it’s why we open them up, share their stories and find new ways for everybody to enjoy, learn, play and create.
We are looking for an Estate Manager to join our team. The role is full time, you will be on a permanent contract and will be working 36 hours per week.
This unique role brings together building and nature conservation, people and project management to provide a holistic estates management service to the Territory. The role will lead on some of the more complex planned maintenance and gives the opportunity to innovate and shape the way we work.
We offer flexible working arrangements where the role allows. This is a full‑time, home‑based role that will mainly cover our sites in the Midlands area but, on occasions, will be required to provide support to some of our SW sites too. Depending on where you are based there may be an opportunity to hot‑desk at one of our local sites.
In this role, you will lead a team of up to 4 people – working across Building Conservation, Landscape Management and M+E services – to deliver a maintenance programme of cyclical works and small projects, with a budget of circa £2m.
Your main objective will be to ensure that our sites remain safe, accessible and operational for our visitors. You will have a strong Health & Safety ethos and lead your team to ensure Statutory Compliance and Safety Critical Reporting are diligently undertaken across your territory. You will also have a unique and exciting opportunity to influence, innovate and deliver carbon reduction, improved nature conservation and champion Sustainable Conservation.
