Thales currently has an opportunity for a Training Manager to work within the UK Services Central Team managing teams undertaking training analysis, design, delivery and evaluation to customer requirements within defence and commercial environments.
This role will provide leadership and direction to the wider Technical Publications and Training team, and design and deliver training within Air Defence and Surface Attack Solutions.
Location – Belfast. You will work independently, manage deadlines, time and team priorities across work streams, and follow client specifications, standards, and Thales internal documentation processes.
What will you deliver?- You are a leader willing to engage and develop your team through collaborative work and challenging approaches.
- Manage and take ownership of day‑to‑day training activities ensuring their delivery on time, within budget and to quality.
- Coordinate multiple training programmes that can be concurrent and span across Export and Domestic geographical locations and customer bases.
- Deliver customer training within the market sectors of Air Defence and Surface Attack Solutions on customer sites or training areas.
- Contribute to team planning, risk management, quality and HSE.
- Provide TNA decision outputs within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority to both internal and external customers on behalf of Thales.
- Analyse and design training to UK MOD JSP
822, S6000T and our internal Chorus 2 standards to ensure the company training outputs remain compliant. - Work with customer and end user to highlight frontline training issues that affect system availability and capability.
- Analyse trending training data to manage training design changes required to improve learning outcomes for the end users.
- Support, share and contribute to the exercising of best practice in the team; through the merit of your own actions and performance, consistently demonstrate the value of Learning and Development to our customers.
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members.
- Set targets for and manage own development with line manager.
- Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve your own practices.
- Engineering and practical knowledge/experience of Air Defence and Surface Attack Solutions.
- Training analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation.
- Resourcing and management of training plans and delivery schedules.
- Stakeholder engagement and management.
- Ability to influence and negotiate at all levels of the organisation.
- Proven track record in consulting across a range of technical disciplines.
- Organisation and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to build credibility quickly and effectively.
- Strong proficiency within standard Microsoft office packages/authoring tools.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Writing of bids, proposals and work package costings.

Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC clearance prior to commencing employment.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years residency in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
