To assist, support and deputise for the Head of QHSE. This will include supporting the business QHSE needs of the Managing Directors, Operational Directors, Senior Managers and operational teams as well as support and provide encouragement to operational management in the delivery of the QHSE Management System.
The role will also assist the Head of QHSE in managing a team of QHSE Advisors, ensuring a program of mentoring and continual professional development is maintained. To help OCS develop and maintain a positive approach to QHSE by coaching, supporting, advising and guiding operational managers and operational teams in relation to QHSE matters. Influence behaviour and coach others to deliver the QHSE Management System.
Deliver a risk based QHSE audit programme and to carry out accident and incident investigations (as directed).
Functional
- To help up-skill operational management so that their QHSE competence, confidence and abilities are enhanced.
- To participate in policy and process review to help achieve simplicity of access, easy understanding and full implementation.
- Assist the Head of QHSE with development of monthly QHSE scorecards for the business divisions and deliver performance reports at Senior Leadership Team meetings where required.
- To communicate proactively on QHSE issues and, as requested, prepare reports, bulletins and briefs to promote learning.
- To react to emerging challenges and adapt as necessary.
- Assist the Head of QHSE in managing a QHSE Team of QHSE Advisors ensuring the team continues with their professional development, as it supports operational management in the delivery of the QHSE management system and safe working practices.
- To support delivery of QHSE strategic objectives and initiatives targeted at continual QHSE improvement.
- To support the business to manage effectively QHSE matters and to be capable of taking appropriate and timely corrective action when required.
- To carry out QHSE audits, to be completed to an agreed schedule, in order to identify nonconformance and advise upon corrective actions.
- Assist with coordination of investigations of significant events that have the potential to compromise the business.
- Oversee and support accident and incident management, including reporting under RIDDOR.
- To provide competent advice and support to the business to assist adverse event investigation and proactive follow-up of lessons learnt.
- To liaise, as required, with any enforcement authority (e.g. HSE, EHO) carrying out an investigation involving OCS and to co-ordinate any requests from that authority.
- To represent the QHSE Team at meetings providing specialist knowledge and guidance on compliance and resilience activities.
- To give credibility to the role by actively building effective working relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
- To keep up to date with new legislation and industry initiatives to ensure maintenance of CPD.
