Make a difference to unpaid carers across the North East
Are you passionate about digital transformation, inclusive employment and improving opportunities for unpaid carers? A consortium of seven unpaid carers support organisations is delivering a new employability service for working‑age unpaid carers across the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority. An experienced and forward‑thinking Digital Lead & Employer Engagement Manager to drive digital innovation, strengthen employer partnerships and champion carer‑inclusive workplace practices across seven local authority areas.
This is a unique opportunity to shape a regional programme that supports unpaid carers to access employment, training and progression opportunities—while helping employers build supportive, flexible and inclusive workplaces.
- Drive digital innovation by developing a regional platform and employer portal that improves access to employment, training and support for unpaid carers.
- Lead employer engagement activity
, building strong relationships and promoting carer‑inclusive workplace practices across the North East. - Support employers to adopt flexible working, inclusive recruitment and Shine Accreditation.
- Collaborate with partners including NEMESA, Shine, local authorities, DWP, NHS and VCSE organisations to strengthen pathways into work.
- Oversee the employer engagement staff
, ensuring high‑quality delivery and consistent practice across all areas. - Monitor performance and impact
, using data and insights to drive continuous improvement.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Strong experience in management, employer engagement or business development.
- Proven ability to build relationships with employers and influence inclusive workplace practice.
- Experience developing or managing digital platforms, online resources or digital engagement tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation and partnership‑working skills.
- Strong project management skills and confidence analysing data to drive improvement.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.
- Ability to travel across the North East region
You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping digital innovation and employer engagement across the region, helping unpaid carers access meaningful opportunities and supporting employers to build inclusive, carer‑friendly workplaces. You’ll join a collaborative, ambitious partnership committed to improving outcomes for unpaid carers and influencing regional workforce practice.
Funding for this post is confirmed until 31 March 2027, with active discussions underway to secure longer‑term investment.
