Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy challenge, positioning Rolls‑Royce SMR at the forefront of transforming the future of low‑carbon energy. The Programme Management Directorate is central to turning our ambition into reality. Operating at the heart of major engineering and infrastructure programmes, the team leads delivery across complex projects, enabling innovation, collaboration and progress towards the deployment of next‑generation nuclear technology.

In this context, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of critical programme outcomes, reporting to a Programme Manager and leading a team of Project Managers. This is a high‑impact leadership role that will shape the successful delivery of projects underpinning the development of a new nuclear power station. We’ll need you to:

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading the delivery of multiple complex engineering, construction, procurement and regulatory projects within a wider programme environment
  • Managing teams of Project Managers, ensuring effective prioritisation, resource allocation and delivery performance
  • Driving project controls across schedule, budget, risk, quality and stakeholder management to achieve programme objectives
  • Reporting progress, mitigating issues and embedding continuous improvement across projects and ways of working

As you can see, this is a pivotal leadership role within our programme delivery organisation, and you’ll bring strategic thinking, outstanding stakeholder management and the ability to inspire high‑performing teams in a complex environment. We’re particularly interested in hearing from people with:

Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree in engineering, science, project management or a related discipline, and/or significant experience delivering large, complex projects and programmes
  • A project management qualification such as APM PMQ or equivalent, or demonstrable experience leading major engineering projects
  • Experience managing multiple work packages, budgets, risks and senior stakeholder relationships within complex delivery environments
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP, Excel, Power BI or Power Apps, alongside the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively

We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements and would expect you to regularly attend one of our Rolls‑Royce SMR locations as required, with occasional travel to support project and stakeholder delivery activities.

What’s in it for you?

The salary range for this role is £60,000 - £78,750, dependent on the skills, knowledge and experience you bring. In addition, you’ll receive:

  • Bonus: 12.5% (performance related)
  • Personal Benefits Allowance: £2,200
  • Pension: 12% employer / 6% employee
  • Holidays: 28 days + public holidays (option to buy/sell up to 4 days)
  • Private Medical Insurance: BUPA
  • Life Assurance: 6× pensionable pay
  • Home Office Support: £250 one off payment for new starters

You’ll be joining a growing organisation delivering nationally significant clean energy infrastructure, where you’ll have the opportunity to influence major programme decisions, lead talented teams and contribute to one of the UK’s most exciting engineering ventures. At Rolls‑Royce SMR, we’re committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to contribute.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all backgrounds.
