Project Manager; FTE

Position: Project Manager (0.4 FTE)
Fortran Future is a three-year, EPSRC-funded Network Plus collaboration between investigators at Queen's University Belfast (the lead institution) and University of Southampton, together with a wide range of national and international partner institutions (currently 25) and a growing community of practitioners and researchers (currently 140). We expect to at least double and ideally quadruple the number of partners and community members.

Fortran Future is located within the Centre for Intelligent Sustainable Computing (CISC) in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Professor Austen Rainer (EEECS) and Dr Andrew Brown (Maths and Physics) lead the project. The Project Manager will deliver high-quality project management, ensuring the operational, administrative, financial and compliance functions that meet EPSRC and University requirements and that, where feasible and appropriate, accommodate partner requirements.

Fortran Future includes a flexible fund of approximately £450K, allocated to external mini-projects through a transparent, competitive process; the Project Manager is responsible for the practical and financial management of both the Network Plus overall and of the funded mini-projects. The role requires building effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners (including industry and consortia) and resolving issues to keep the overall project and the mini-projects on track.

The Person The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria: Degree, HND, NVQ4 qualified in a relevant subject and/or professional qualification) and at least 3 years' relevant experience in a similar role including significant relevant experience and expertise in the successful provision of project management services within a business or academic environment OR lower qualification and substantial relevant experience

Experience of working with major grant funders.

Experience of developing and implementing project and finance management processes and procedures for a range of major grant funders.

Experience of coordinating and delivering Claims, Reports and associated Audits to a variety of funding bodies or government agencies.
