About

The Role

We operate Guinness packaging facilities at Marshalls Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Runcorn in Northwest England, packaging canned, bottled and kegged product for Ireland, the UK and export markets.

This role is site‑based at Diageo’s east Belfast packaging facility – a 12‑acre site running a 24/7 operation, supplied with beer from St James Gate brought in bulk tankers with up to 30,000 litres each. The site packages over 20 brands, including Guinness Draught, Extra Stout, Foreign Extra Stout, Harp, Hop House 13, Smithwick’s and Rockshore.

As an Operator you’ll be responsible for the quality control of the line and for operating packaging machine processes whilst following standard operating procedures. You will also perform autonomous maintenance tasks such as cleaning, inspecting, lubricating and responding to issues, and prepare the line for shift handovers.

Health and safety compliance is key and you’ll be at the forefront of monitoring it alongside other KPI’s and targets including quality, hygiene, waste and efficiency.

You’ll Be Able To Demonstrate The Following
  • Can work well within a team as well as the ability to make effective decisions and thrive in situations where you can solve problems.
  • Holds strong interpersonal and leadership skills with an ability to communicate with all levels across the site.
  • Has ambition, is ready to support Team Leaders and eager to grow into a leadership role in the future.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to suggest new ideas and drive positive change in our manufacturing processes. This is backed by a strong commitment to operational excellence.

Experience working in a production environment would be beneficial but not a must‑have for this role. Training will be provided.

Skills and proficiency are what matter to Diageo, and we’d love to hear from candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and experience who are passionate about transferring those skills into a packaging environment.

Shifts

This role requires a 42‑hour week continental day/night shift pattern: two 12‑hour days, two 12‑hour nights with four days off, repeating.
