Location:
Chelmsford Job Type: Full-time We are seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor for our clients' Fibre Department, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fibre optic manufacturing and assembly team. This role is crucial in ensuring that products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will supervise production staff, coordinate workloads, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement to meet customer delivery and operational objectives.
Day-to-day of the role:
Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Fibre Department to ensure production schedules are met in line with customer requirements and delivery targets. Allocate labour and resources effectively to meet business demands. Monitor departmental performance, productivity, and efficiency. Ensure all fibre assembly, termination, testing, and manufacturing activities comply with work instructions and specifications. Identify and resolve production issues to minimise disruption and delays.
Provide regular updates on production status and performance to management. Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Fibre Technicians, Production Operators, and Assemblers. Conduct daily production meetings and communicate priorities effectively. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive working environment. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in fibre optics. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices. Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations and compliance. Technical proficiency in fibre optic assembly and testing. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
