Role Overview
Source Co Recruitment are currently looking for a General Operative – Colour Matcher / Tinter to join a busy manufacturing environment in Belfast.
The Colour Matcher plays an important role in ensuring paint and coating products consistently meet the required quality and colour standards. The role combines practical production work with colour matching, quality control and accurate record keeping.
You will work closely with production and quality teams to ensure products meet customer requirements, while maintaining high standards of accuracy, housekeeping and health & safety.
Salary: Starting salary £25,000 per annum and increase after successful probation
Working hours: Monday – Thursday 08:30 – 16:30 / Friday – 08:30 – 14:00
Key Responsibilities- Monitor the consistency and quality of batch productions.
- Adjust paint mixtures to accurately replicate specific colours and shades.
- Match colour standards both visually and using spectrometers.
- Work closely with Quality Control teams to identify and resolve defects.
- Maintain stock levels of paints, tints and paint-room supplies using a computerised inventory system.
- Handle liquids, chemicals and solvents safely.
- Carry out solvent blending and powder weighing.
- Clean containers and equipment.
- Fill cans with finished paint products.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good colour vision – an annual colour blindness test will be required.
- Ability to match colour standards visually and using spectrometers.
- Ability to understand and correct different colour shades.
- A methodical and organised approach to work.
- Experience or ability to work with liquids and chemicals.
- Experience or ability to handle solvents and blending processes.
- Ability to weigh powders accurately.
- Ability to clean containers and equipment.
- Ability to follow production procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
- A good understanding of quality procedures and colour matching techniques.
- Knowledge of control measures when working with pigments and additives.
- An understanding of process performance measurement, reporting and tracking.
- Knowledge of risk mitigation and safe working practices.
- The ability to assess different options and identify the most effective solution for customer and production requirements.
- We are looking for someone who is methodical, practical and quality-focused, with excellent attention to detail.
- Previous colour matching experience would be beneficial, but candidates with a strong manufacturing or production background who demonstrate the right attitude, accuracy and willingness to learn will also be considered.
- The role requires someone who can work confidently both independently and as part of a wider production team, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping
