Senior Media & Communications Officer

Are you an experienced communications professional looking to develop your career in media relations, public affairs and strategic communications within a high-profile organisation?

MCS Group are delighted to be supporting a leading membership body in their search for a Media and Communications Officer to support press activity and communications campaigns across the UK.

• Managed and responded to high-volume media enquiries, coordinating with senior stakeholders and spokespeople.
• Planned and delivered proactive communications campaigns aligned with strategic policy objectives.
• Monitored media and political developments, identifying opportunities for timely reactive communications.
• Ensured external messaging remained accurate, consistent and compliant with internal approvals processes.
• Prepared spokespeople for media engagement through briefings, interview support and follow-up activity.
• Amplified communications activity across digital and owned channels, including websites and social media.
• Supported daily press office operations, including media monitoring, reporting, social media oversight and out-of-hours cover.

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

• Experienced in public relations and fast-paced press office environments, with strong regional media awareness.
• Skilled in managing competing priorities, meeting tight deadlines and exercising strong news judgement.
• Confident drafting press releases and clear, accurate communications materials.
• Proficient in media distribution, content management and digital communication tools.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with expertise in using social media strategically across platforms.

• Annual salary equivalent £40-45k
• 35 hour work week
