THE EMPLOYER IS: GLOW - GIVING LIFE OPPORTUNITIES TO WOMENAs a Youth Work Assistant for Glow NI, you will help in providing support to girls facing mental health challenges. Your primary focus will be on delivering sessions/programmes in schools that promote mental well‑being, empowerment, and resilience among the youth in our community.
Due to the nature of youth work - the successful candidate will be working in the evenings to facilitate youth groups.
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Glow NI Youth Programmes.
- Deliver group sessions, workshops, and activities for young women and girls, in particular as part of our Big Lottery Community Fund Schools’ programme.
- Reach out to young women and girls in the community to raise awareness of Glow NI's programmes and services.
- Engage with schools, youth organisations, and other community partners to promote collaboration and participation.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to programme coordination, including maintaining participant records, preparing materials, and tracking programme outcomes.
- Ensure that programme activities are well‑documented and meet reporting requirements.
- Assist in the maintenance of referral and service user databases and ensure all relevant data is uploaded to the database.
- Assist in uploading client information to Write Upp software management system.
- Assist in the monitoring of programme and participant progress and make necessary adjustments to keep programmes on track.
- Assist the Youth Worker in liaising with local organisations, schools, youth clubs, community centres, other voluntary organisations and develop working relationships that will promote Glow NI and its services.
- Communicate programme updates, outcomes, and impact to relevant stakeholders.
- A minimum of 6 months experience working with young people.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- IT competent, including ability to record on various electronic databases, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel.
- Sound planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a demanding workload and respond to changing demands and meet deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car insured for business use.
- Hold Level 2 Diploma or Level 3 certificate in Youth Work Practice.
- Experience in group facilitation, particularly with young women.
- Knowledge of the challenges facing young people with diverse neurological profiles.
- Working knowledge of the youth sector.
- Knowledge of the difficulties and barriers faced by women and girls within marginalised communities and a passion for women’s empowerment.
