THE EMPLOYER IS: ARTILLERY YOUTH CENTREThis entry level role will provide the post-holder with the opportunity to gain skills and experience that will set them onto a career within the community sector. It will provide access to a range of learning and methodologies to enable them to understand the nature of work with communities to address key themes of education, empowerment, poverty and employment.
You will work with staff across Artillery’s range of services and programmes to identify your learning needs, existing skills and values and build an agreed learning framework that will help you realise your potential as a community development worker. With agreed targets and time frames for learning, you would spend time with each of the key projects at Artillery including the Training and Education Programme, the Social Enterprise Café, the Outreach and Detached Team, The Steering Group and Management Team, Youth Development Workers and Volunteers, Partner Groups and Community Development.
You will engage with young people, their families and wider community to gain an understanding of the nature of the communities we serve, their needs and priorities, their challenges and the range of interventions used to address the issues facing these communities. The post holder will work in an empowering and cooperative manor with volunteers, partner organisations and the staff of Artillery Youth Services to support the work of this organisation.
