The Rainbow Project is seeking to recruit members to our Board of Trustees from across Northern Ireland committed to our vision “of a society free from homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and heterosexism; where all people are recognised as equals”.
The Rainbow Project was founded in 1994 in response to the HIV and Aids epidemic. Since then the organisation has developed into a leading LGBTQIA+ organisation working across Northern Ireland. We provide support services to mitigate the impacts of inequality while working to deliver full social and legal equality for LGBTQIA+ people.
We are particularly interested applications from:
- Trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people;
- Black and minority ethnic people; and
We are also interested in applicants with expertise in but not limited to the following areas:
On average, Trustees should be prepared to commit around 8 hours of their time per quarter to the role. The time commitment for a member of the Board of Trustees includes attendance at Board of Trustees meeting once per quarter, which is usually held on a Saturday morning for 3 hrs.
In addition to the main Board, Trustees will normally sit on one sub-committee, either the Governance & Assurance Sub-Committee or the Strategy, Sustainability and Fundraising Sub-Committee, sub-committee meetings last around 2 hrs per quarter and are normally remote on a Tuesday or Thursday evening.

Interviews are planned for the week beginning 20th May, with a Board of Trustees away event planned for Friday 31st May / Saturday 1st June. New board members would be welcome to join that event if available.
