Position: Workforce Development Officer TLNT1_NI
Job Title:

Workforce Development Officer Responsible to:
Senior Management Team

Location:

Belfast Office (required to attend office 1-2 days per week) Hours per week: 21 35 hours (dependent on candidate skills, experience and preference). Salary: £27,252- £32,000 p.a. (pro rata dependent on experience). Holidays:

The leave entitlement is 20 days Annual Leave, plus 10 days Public Holidays (calculated pro-rata for part-time employees). The leave-year runs from 1st January to 31st December.

Contract:

This post is funded until 31st March 2027 (with strong possibility of extension). Key Responsibilities Successfully contribute to all deliverables and outcomes associated with the Workforce Development specification, in partnership with the Education Authority. Conduct research on behalf of BGC, engaging with relevant stakeholders on the development of a new Sectoral Workforce Development Strategy. Provide bespoke guidance, support and training to membership organisations in response to identified need. To work as part of a team, designing, delivering, and coordinating training, activities and events.

Design and participate in regional initiatives, maintain organisational relationships, and work in partnership with other youth workers/ organisations. To support the SMT to maintain accurate administrative documents as requested. Assist SMT with developing and managing international and national connections. Contribute to the production of high-quality funding applications, income generation strategies and sponsorship submissions as directed by the CEO. Support the development and implementation of the BGC strategic plan and any other duties as occasionally required and directed by the CEO to facilitate the overall needs of the Organisation.

Ensure that all activities are compliant with BGC policy and current legislation, and best practice is maintained. Person Specification Shortlisting Criteria (i).

Education:

A third-level qualification (Level 5 or above) in Youth Work, Community Development, Education, Business, or a related discipline. (ii).

Experience:

At least three years' experience paid employment in the community, voluntary or statutory sector.

Experience of leading and/or supporting the delivery of projects and achieving agreed outcomes within specified timescales, within the community and voluntary sector.

Experience of contributing to funding applications, grant proposals, or income generation initiatives.

Experience of designing, coordinating, and delivering training, workshops, events, or learning programmes.

Experience of maintaining accurate records, reports, and administrative systems. (iii).

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Knowledge of sectoral workforce development principles and organisational capacity building. Understanding of the voluntary and community sector and the challenges facing youth organisations. Understanding of project planning, monitoring, and evaluation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Strong facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Competent in Microsoft Office applications and digital collaboration tools. Other Requirements Ability to travel throughout Northern Ireland and occasionally beyond, as required. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to meet organisational needs.
