Salary: £27,030 per annum
Contract type: Permanent, subject to funding

The Environmental Officer will provide hands‑on support to deliver all LEQ departmental programmes including the Green Flag for Parks and Blue Flag/Seaside Award certification programmes and environmental surveying. This role also involves providing key administration support in addition to delivering field work as required at key times of the year e.g. quarterly Marine Litter Surveys, bi‑annual Green Flag Assessments.
The post holder will be expected to develop relationships with relevant stakeholders; particularly local councils, businesses and community groups, empowering them to make a positive impact in their local environment.
The Green Flag for Parks and Blue Flag/Seaside Award programmes recognise and reward well managed green/blue spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world. The Environmental Officer will support with day‑to‑day operations of these programmes including, application reviews, quality assurance of assessment reports, award promotion, volunteer judge management etc.
The post holder will also provide administrative support for surveying programmes, including Marine Litter Surveys and Cleaner Neighbourhood Surveys, and will assist in delivering on the ground survey work. They will oversee the scheduling and delivery of beach cleans, ensure detailed and accurate data records are maintained for the department, and cultivate effective relationships with the wider KNIB and volunteer teams involved in programme delivery.
