Seasonal Foal Nurses for 2027 Foal Season

Closing Date: 15 October 2026

Location: Rossdales Equine Hospital and Diagnostic Centre

Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons is seeking experienced, qualified Veterinary Nurses to join our specialist Equine Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for the 2027 foaling season, from 18 January – 4 July 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dedicated referral unit providing advanced, intensive care to critically ill newborn foals. Our NICU manages a wide range of complex cases and provides access to advanced treatments, including mechanical ventilation, parenteral nutrition and cardiovascular support.

Seasonal Veterinary Nurses will work as part of a dedicated team on a shift basis, enabling us to provide 24-hour nursing care throughout the foaling season.

The role

In addition to caring for neonatal patients, successful applicants will contribute to nursing within our adult intensive care unit and assist with adult emergency admissions. The role offers excellent exposure to both neonatal and adult equine critical care within a busy referral hospital.

About you

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Veterinary Nurses who have:

  • A recognised qualification in Veterinary Nursing and current RCVS registration.
  • Applicants who have obtained their veterinary nursing qualification outside the UK should be eligible to obtain RCVS registration.
  • Experience in either small animal or general equine nursing.
  • Previous experience in neonatal nursing is desirable but not essential, and full training and support will be provided within the team.
  • A willingness to work shifts as part of a 24-hour intensive care service.
  • A strong interest in developing their skills in equine critical care.
Accommodation

Shared accommodation is provided for successful applicants for the duration of the placement. Please note that accommodation is strictly no pets, and this condition is not negotiable.

Join our team

This is a fantastic opportunity for Veterinary Nurses looking to gain valuable experience in equine neonatal and critical care while working alongside an experienced specialist team during the busy foaling season, from 18 January – 4 July 2027.

We offer an excellent benefits package including:

  • Enhanced holiday
  • Opportunity to buy & sell holiday
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Enhanced family schemes, including maternity and paternity leave
