The Role We are recruiting for a Compliance Auditor to join a well-established manufacturing business. This role is responsible for ensuring Quality and Standard Operating Procedures remain up to date, compliant, and fit for purpose through auditing and review activities across multiple departments. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams to support quality compliance, food safety, hygiene standards, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities Conduct audits of processes and procedures to assess compliance with Quality Assurance and HACCP plans. Audit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the business to ensure accuracy, relevance, and consistent adherence. Provide independent assurance that SOPs and Operational Procedures reflect current practices and meet regulatory, food safety, and workplace safety requirements. Work collaboratively with procedure owners to implement updates and corrective actions arising from audit findings.
Observe operational activities and identify deviations, risks, and instances of non-compliance. Review SOPs against operational practices to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or outdated processes. Produce clear and concise audit reports with practical recommendations. Manage audit schedules, record non-conformances, and monitor corrective and preventative actions through quality management systems. Develop a thorough understanding of the SOP lifecycle, including creation, approval, review, and reporting processes.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programmes. Monitor and maintain hygiene and biosecurity standards. Assist with external audits and demonstrate compliance with legislative, customer, retailer, trade body, and organic standards where applicable. Contribute to the review and maintenance of HACCP processes and documentation. Support the management and oversight of pest control programmes.
Essential Criteria Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience. Formal Lead Auditor training (such as CQI & IRCA certification) is highly desirable. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a compliance, auditing, quality assurance, or similar role. Experience working with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) documentation and records. Proven experience conducting audits in line with recognised quality standards, including ISO 9001.
Strong understanding of HACCP principles, quality management systems, SOPs, risk assessments, and health & safety compliance. Ability to objectively assess operational practices and challenge non-compliance in a constructive manner. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience using quality management systems such as QPulse would be advantageous.
