Generic Housing Officer

Dawson Jones Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Housing Officer for an initial three-month temporary assignment based in Leeds. This is a varied, frontline housing management role offering hybrid working, with responsibility for delivering an effective, customer-focused service to tenants and residents. The successful candidate will manage a range of tenancy and estate management responsibilities, including anti-social behaviour, rent arrears, void properties and lettings.

Key Responsibilities Deliver a comprehensive tenancy and estate management service, acting as a key point of contact for tenants. Manage tenancy-related issues, including breaches of tenancy, neighbour disputes, nuisance and anti-social behaviour. Manage void properties and lettings, including allocations, tenancy sign-ups, transfers, mutual exchanges and decants. Assist with rent arrears management, including appropriate tenancy enforcement action. Conduct tenancy visits and tenancy health checks, identifying and addressing any concerns.

Liaise with maintenance teams regarding repairs, property conditions, rechargeable works and relet requirements. Work closely with local authorities, support agencies and other external partners to resolve housing-related issues. Ensure tenants understand their tenancy agreements, responsibilities and available support. Maintain accurate records and contribute to service performance and continuous improvement. Promote positive tenant relationships and support resident involvement. About You To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
Previous experience as a Housing Officer or in a similar frontline social housing management role.

Experience of void management and lettings, alongside general tenancy management. Good knowledge of tenancy agreements, housing management procedures and relevant housing legislation. Experience handling anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches and rent arrears. Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills. The ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise competing demands. Confidence using housing management systems and Microsoft Office. A proactive, organised and professional approach.

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) would be advantageous but is not essential.
