Service Manager
Lead Our Kitchen Team as a Cook ManagerAre you an experienced cook with a passion for preparing nutritious meals in a caring environment? Corkey House is seeking a Cook Manager to lead meal planning and preparation, ensuring residents receive high-quality, nutritious food in line with their dietary needs.
About UsThe Council for Social Witness (Older People Services) is part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, providing care within a Christian-based ethos. Corkey House is one of 6 homes for older people run by the Council for Social Witness. The purpose-built home accommodates 35 residents who have a variety of physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs and varying levels of dependency.
The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, cooking, and baking meals to meet residents dietary requirements
- Managing kitchen stock levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring food quality standards
- Preparing snacks such as tea, sandwiches, and suppers
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas, including floors, work surfaces, shelves, and appliances
- Washing dishes and ensuring proper waste disposal
- Leading kitchen operations and supporting the catering team
- Attending staff meetings and training sessions
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties to support residents well-being
- This role involves some physical work, including moving kitchen equipment and furniture.
- Experience in a catering or kitchen management role, ideally in a care setting
- Understanding of dietary requirements for older people
- Ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations efficiently
- A compassionate approach and a commitment to supporting residents' well-being
- Integrity, honesty, patience, and strong team working skills
- A willingness to uphold the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
- Leadership role in a supportive, caring environment

- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience of catering outside a domestic setting
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home
- Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
- Experience of working with older people
- NVQ2 in Food Preparation & Cooking (or equivalent qualification)
