Shift Leader – Pay & Hours

Rate of pay starts from £15.59 an hour. For all hours worked between midnight and 6am you receive an additional night premium of £2.35 per hour. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

New colleagues are offered a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week; a minimum of 12 hours is also available.

• Work in a fast‑paced retail environment and ensure a clean, well‑stocked store.
• Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver excellent customer service.
• Listen to customers, ensuring they leave with what they came for.
• Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback.
• Guide and support colleagues in‑store, ensuring a safe workplace.
• Maintain a clear understanding of store performance and assist managers with actions to improve operations.
• Lead by example and set a positive tone for the team.
• Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience.
• Support colleagues in meeting daily priorities and taking regular breaks.
• Open and close the store, completing duty cover and ensuring all decisions are correct for safety.
• Act as the go‑to person for day‑to‑day queries in the absence of the manager.
• Keep the store clean, tidy, and well‑presented.
• Support managers with seasonal, community, and charity events.
• Contribute to a great team atmosphere and celebrate high performers.
• Follow health and safety routines and procedures, ensuring colleagues do the same.

• Display strong role‑model behaviour and provide thoughtful customer service.
• Build positive, inclusive relationships with colleagues.
• Communicate clearly through various methods to keep the team informed.
• Lead confidently in the manager’s absence and make sound decisions.

Availability windows are:
Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday – 22:00 to 07:00. You will receive three weeks’ notice of shift dates once hours are scheduled.
