Purpose of the role As the senior sales lead in our commercial team, you will build a proactive sales operation that creates opportunities, develops pipeline and converts business into sustainable earned income.
You will have particular responsibility for growing our core hires business across rehearsals, auditions and workshops, while developing corporate and strategic venue relationships. You will line-manage the Events Sales Manager and work closely with the Event Manager to ensure a strong sales-to-delivery transition. Sales leadership and business development Lead our sales strategy, moving the team from a largely reactive model to planned outbound activity.
Own the sales pipeline, ensuring sufficient quality and value to support income targets. Identify and develop new markets, clients and opportunities across the cultural, creative and corporate sectors. Lead prospecting and build relationships that increase repeat, block and higher-value bookings, including multi-year partnerships and other longer-term income. Use customer insight, market intelligence and performance data to improve conversion and strengthen our commercial positioning.
Core hires business Own the strategy for growing rehearsals, auditions and workshops, identifying priority clients and markets. Develop targeted prospecting to increase utilisation and visibility of our spaces. Work with Marketing on propositions, campaigns and case studies that generate qualified leads. Identify repeat and block-booking opportunities and monitor performance to improve results. Leading the sales team Line-manage and develop the Events Sales Manager, setting clear objectives, priorities and expectations.
Review pipeline, activity and conversion regularly, acting where performance or income is ch the Events Sales Manager in prospecting, enquiry management, negotiation and conversion. Ensure clear processes for enquiries, quotes, follow-up and bookings, building a culture of proactive sales, accountability and excellent customer service. Pricing, packaging and marketing Own pricing and packaging with colleagues, balancing demand, capacity, market position, value and profitability.
Develop higher-value propositions beyond basic room hire that encourage package and ancillary income, using customer feedback and performance to improve the offer. Work with Marketing to identify priority markets and audiences, and to brief campaigns and the assets, case studies and testimonials that support proactive sales. Commercial management and reporting Take responsibility for the commercial sales budget and performance, with accurate pipeline forecasting.
Report on income against target, emerging risks, enquiries, pipeline value, conversion and utilisation. Keep contracts, invoicing, CRM and commercial records up to date, and contribute to effective CRM systems and dashboards. Client relationships and handover Ensure clients receive a professional, responsive and consistent experience throughout the sales process. Hand over confirmed bookings to the Event Manager with accurate, comprehensive information, working together to resolve any delivery issues.
