Main Purpose Of Role & Responsibilities In The Business
As a Security Controller in Kainos, you will play a lead role in ensuring customer projects are delivered in compliance with Kainos’, customer’s and industry best practices for physical and personnel security. You will work across the business, with both our central teams and delivery teams. Using your deep experience of security practices, you will actively support the engagement with Kainos stakeholders, gaining their buy‑in to implement security policies and procedures.
You will act as a role model and leader for security in Kainos, owning the delivery of security initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Working to co‑create, develop, and then manage security policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Creating and maintaining a security culture that aligns with Kainos’ values.
- Communicating current and relevant security threats and actions to employees and partners.
- Conducting regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
- Managing Aftercare Activities such as Change of Circumstances (CoC), Overseas Travel Briefings and Aftercare Incident Reports (AIR).
- Maintaining compliance with government security schemes, such as IPSA (Industry Personnel Security Assessment) and FSC (Facility Security Clearance).
- Working with Delivery Teams, People Support and Line Managers to identify and implement any security lessons learnt.
- Managing customer security checks and onboarding requirements to ensure staff can join projects quickly while remaining compliant.
- Facilitating visits and inspections by government or contract authorities and ensuring relevant documentation, processes or records are available for inspection.
- Current holder of UK security clearance.
- Deep experience of HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting processes.
- Experience creating & implementing physical and personnel security policies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to work under pressure and prioritise work as required.
- Experience coaching and mentoring in security best practices.
- Experience implementing threat & risk management processes.
- Experience working with a digital organization in MOD, Defence or National Security.
- Previous experience as a Security Officer or Security Controller.
- Experience working day‑to‑day on client site.
- Active participation in communities of interest (e.g. online groups, speaking at conferences).
- Experience working within a Project Management Office.
