Security Controller

Security Controller | Belfast or Remote NI | Hybrid | £70,000 - £80,000 Are you an experienced Security Controller or Security Officer with current UK security clearance and a background in HMG vetting? This could be the role for you. My client is a well-established, high-growth technology business headquartered in Belfast, with a strong track record delivering complex programmes across government and public sector.

As they continue to scale, they are looking for a Security Controller to join the team at Consultant level and take ownership of physical and personnel security across the business. This is a central, business-wide role with real influence. You will not be siloed into a single project. Instead, you will work across delivery teams and central functions, shaping security culture and ensuring the organisation remains compliant with government security requirements.

The Role You will be responsible for:
Creating, developing and managing security policies, procedures and protocols Conducting regular security audits and risk assessments and recommending corrective actions Maintaining compliance with government security schemes including IPSA and FSC Managing HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting and customer onboarding processes Handling aftercare activities including Change of Circumstances, Overseas Travel Briefings and Aftercare Incident Reports Communicating current security threats and required actions to staff and partners Coaching and mentoring colleagues in security best practices Facilitating government and contracting authority visits and inspections Collaborating with delivery teams, people functions and line managers to embed security lessons learnt What You Need Current UK security clearance (essential, non-negotiable) Deep hands-on experience of HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting processes Proven experience creating and implementing physical and personnel security policies Experience in threat and risk management Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Ability to coach and mentor others in security practices Capacity to manage competing priorities under pressure Nice to Have Background in MOD, Defence or National Security environments Previous experience in a Security Officer or Security Controller capacity Experience working on client site day to day Involvement in security communities of interest Exposure to a Project Management Office Why Apply This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior, standalone security role at a business that takes compliance and culture seriously.
