Influence services and support through lived experience
Promote equity in access to diagnosis, care, and treatment
Build networks that reduce isolation and increase understanding

As a Support Group Lead with NIRDP
, you’ll play a vital role in creating safe, welcoming spaces for people affected by rare diseases to share, connect, and feel heard
.
Whether you’ve lived experience yourself, or simply want to help others navigate life with a rare condition, this role is all about building community and offering understanding without judgment
.
- Host and guide regular support group meetings (online or in-person) in a warm and inclusive way
- Create a safe space where every voice is valued and respected
- Spark open, thoughtful conversations and ensure everyone feels welcome
- Help plan session topics or invite guest speakers, with support from the NIRDP team
- Share useful resources and signpost to relevant services as needed
- Keep in touch with NIRDP staff to share updates, ideas, or any group needs
- Help grow awareness of the group through community word-of-mouth and social media (optional)
