Role

Part‑time Safeguarding Officer at Wrotham School, working 16–20 hours per week mainly 10‑2pm.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in managing safeguarding and child protection cases.
  • Manage referrals and liaise with Children’s Social Care, Early Help, the Police and other external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential and timely safeguarding records using the school’s safeguarding systems.
  • Monitor the wellbeing of vulnerable students and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Attend safeguarding meetings, strategy discussions and multi‑agency meetings where appropriate.
  • Work closely with pastoral teams to ensure students receive the necessary support.
  • Help promote a strong safeguarding culture across the school.
  • Contribute to safeguarding training and awareness for staff where appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Experience working within safeguarding, child protection or a related field.
  • Sound understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education and current safeguarding legislation.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Resilience, calm under pressure and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Commitment to ensuring every child is safe and supported.
