Overview
Annual salary: up to £29,856.80.
Location:
Belfast.
Contract:
Full time - Permanent, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Salary includes a company vehicle and fuel card or £3,500 company car allowance.
Role:
Housing Support Officer at Mears, providing temporary accommodation support to asylum seekers while their claim is being assessed. The role combines housing management with person-centred support, addressing safeguarding and welfare needs, monitoring wellbeing, and maintaining accurate records for compliance. The post involves working within a team to deliver high-quality housing management and support across assigned regions, while coordinating with internal teams, external agencies, care providers and community organisations.
- Deliver a high-quality housing management and support service to service users, combining property management with person-centred support.
- Manage a portfolio of homes within an assigned region, ensuring properties are maintained to contractual standards.
- Coordinate move-ins, move-outs, voids and inspections; monitor compliance with key performance indicators; identify and manage risks.
- Identify service users support needs through regular assessments and engagement; provide advice and assistance; support safeguarding and welfare needs.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, care providers and community organisations to ensure appropriate support is in place.
- Maintain accurate records for audits, compliance and reporting; uphold professional boundaries, resilience and a flexible approach.
- Travel between sites as required and work independently with initiative.
- Support asylum seekers throughout their application process, ensuring welfare and safeguarding needs are met.
- Provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families.
- Identify needs and put in place support packages to promote independence.
- Work with vulnerable and diverse client groups, including those with mental health needs or challenging behaviours.
- Carry out risk assessments and maintain accurate records for audits and compliance.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, service users, local authorities, and partner organisations.
- Maintain professional boundaries while being approachable, empathetic, and supportive.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Full UK driving licence held; willingness to travel between sites as required.
- Experience in housing management and/or safeguarding in similar settings is desirable.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
