VANRATH are delighted to be supporting a leading social justice organisation with the recruitment of a Support Worker to join their team in Belfast.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced support professional who is passionate about helping vulnerable women transition from prison into stable accommodation and community life.
What's in it for you?- £13.95 per hour
- Fixed-Term Contract
- Rota-based working across 7 days
- Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts
- Belfast-based role
You will be joining an organisation committed to supporting women transitioning from prison into housing and their local communities.
About you- A Level 2 qualification in a social care field, such as NVQ or equivalent.
- At least one year's paid experience working with vulnerable individuals, particularly within housing, community outreach or support services.
- Experience providing emotional support to individuals in distress.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
- The ability to remain calm and professional during challenging or emergency situations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Understanding of housing issues, homelessness and community integration.
- Knowledge of services available to vulnerable individuals.
- Understanding of crisis intervention, risk management and safeguarding.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as part of a rota.
- Provide emotional support to women, helping them feel safe, listened to and supported.
- Support the safety and security of service users within accommodation.
- Provide practical support with immediate housing and personal challenges.
- Signpost service users to appropriate statutory and voluntary services.
- Respond to neighbourhood issues including noise, disturbances and safety concerns.
- Provide reassurance to individuals experiencing anxiety, distress or isolation.
- Support service users in managing stress, anxiety and trauma.
- Encourage engagement with appropriate wellbeing and support services.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents.
- Complete incident reports and wellbeing checks.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, handovers and training.
