Principal Software Developer in Test

Enso Recruitment is delighted to be currently working with a Belfast-based technology team who are actively recruiting for an experienced Principal Software Developer in Test.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a senior leadership role within an agile engineering team, where you’ll shape testing strategy, drive automation standards, and play a key role in ensuring high quality and reliability of their systems.

• Set and own the overall test strategy across functional, integration, regression, and data testing
• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for backend services, APIs, and data pipelines
• Carry out hands‑on automated testing, including unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, data engineers, and stakeholders to define effective test approaches
• Mentor and support other QA and test engineers, driving best practices across the team
• Identify, track, and resolve defects, ensuring high‑quality releases
• Contribute to agile ceremonies and promote a strong quality‑first, agile mindset
• Maintain clear documentation of test cases, results, and quality metrics

• 5+ years’ experience in QA / Software Testing, with experience operating at senior or lead level
• Strong background in test automation and building maintainable testing frameworks
• Proficiency in Python for test tooling and automation
• Experience testing backend services, APIs, and data‑driven systems
• Familiarity with cloud‑based environments, ideally AWS
• Experience working in agile delivery teams
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies across software and data platforms
• Experience with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, JUnit, or NUnit
• Knowledge of Git and agile tooling such as Jira
• Experience with C# or Type Script is beneficial but not essential

  Up to £90k
